Squatters arrive in Geelong
Squatters arrive in the Geelong area, including Thomas Armitage, previously an articled clerk to Joseph Tice Gellibrand. Gellibrand was a former attourney-general of Tasmania and the author of the Treaty Deeds Batman reportedly agreed to after he arrived at Indented Head in 1835.

Charles Sladen
Charles Sladen arrives in Geelong from England. Henry Tyssen dies three weeks after Sladen's arrival and Sladen administers his estate. This is the genesis of the firm that would ultimately become Harwood and Pincott in the late 1800's.

Geelong Corporation Appointment
Sanford and Harwood appointed by Town Council as solicitors for the Geelong Corporation (City of Geelong). Sandford resigns as solicitor for the Corporation on 21 May 1956. From this time onwards, Harwood and his firm, under various names, continue to act for Geelong and other councils in the Geelong region.

Harwood & Pincott purchase the firm of Taylor Buckland and Gates on 19 April 1899. Partnership with Harold Harwood is dissolved and the firm name reverts to Harwood & Pincott on 31 July 1899.

Henry Hodges Hall
Arthur's son Henry Hodges Hall succeeded to the practice to be known as Hodges Hall. Henry was charming, witty and a very able commercial lawyer, who had a wide range of passions: for his wife Anne, for sailing at Metung and for the Geelong Cats.
