Date approximate. Man accidentally disturbs intruder rummaging around in his garage near #2 in Carmichael, and is attacked with what appears to be a pre-1975 police training baton.

Approximate dates. Prowlers and burglaries in the area around Crestview Lane in Carmichael, in proximity to #4.

Approximate dates. Burglaries along the street where victim #5 lived, with jewelry taken from some homes and left in others. Threatening phone calls to #5 for a week or so before this date, and hangup calls elsewhere on the street as well.

Car (Oldsmobile with California license TOR 505) stopped by police near #7. Driver misidentified as a local drug dealer. Car owned by a Michael Manier, who it turned out had actually died in police custody in Feb. 1976.

Dates approximate. Victim receives hangup calls for about three weeks before attack, all in the evening.

Approximate date. Prowlers seen by neighbours in the vicinity of #11 for a month before the attack.
Ladera Way
Woman near Oakcrest and Dewey spots a ski masked man crawling toward a home. She flees when he knocks on her car window, and he grabs a bike from the bushes and apparently starts after her.
Date approximate. Neighbour finds a bag under her window containing a flashlight and gloves.

Approximate dates. Prowler spotted by neighbour on Feb. 21. Victim #15 receiving hangup calls, stopping about a week before attack date. Other neighbours burglarized and getting phone calls starting in January.
Approximate dates. Several suspicious men spotted by neighbours over the previous three months, including some falsely claiming to be meter readers. Burglaries on Richdale Way and neighbouring streets. Hangup calls to #3 and neighbours for months.

Calls to operator saying that he'd picked out a victim and that police couldn't stop him. Referred to himself as the "East Side Rapist"
Benny Way
Victim #17 receiving many hang up phone calls. Evidence of a prowler in a vacant home with a view of #17's house.
