Film companies had to start being more cautious about over glamorising their crime films, in order to send the message that 'Crime Doesn't Pay'. This is made clear in the film The Public Enemy.

Crime Films Dieing Out
Crime films started to die out during this time, this was because of the rise in action films. People wanted to see films that were less realistic in order to escape.

James Bond
This is probably the most successful crime sequel, running over a 50 year period (so far). Starting with the first bond film in 1962, Dr. No and then going on to release another 22 films, with 7 different famous actors playing the character of Bond, the most recent film being Skyfall with Daniel Craig.

Goodfellas

Hybrids
As hybrid films have become more popular more crime hybrids start to be created. These include crime thrillers, crime comedy and crime drama. More recent crime hybrids include: The Shawshank Redemption, 21 Jump street and The Silence Of The Lambs
