MS Bioworks LLC was organized in the State of Michigan as a multiple member managed limited liability company in May of 2010
After a month or so of exchanging emails we drove from Ann Arbor Michigan to Madison Wisconsin and presented the MS Bioworks business plan.
Promega formed an alliance with MS Bioworks to continue building its core proteomics capabilities with a focus on product development and providing analytical services to the research community. An initial cash injection from Promega enabled MS Bioworks to start up.
Our original logo featured a mass spectrum. The isoptope pattern featured in the logo is from the peptide formed by concatenating the founders names DAVIDRAVIRICHARDMICHAEL, in our world this peptide would be observed as the (M+6H)6+ species Click the image to see the full logo.
We found 3300sqft of lab and office space in Ann Arbor. MS Bioworks is located at 3950 Varsity Drive, Ann Arbor, MI
After some minor renovations 3950 Varsity Drive is starting to look like a mass spec lab. Now all we need are the instruments...
Orbitrap Velos was delivered. A Linear ion couple to an Orbitrap!
With help from the local business accelerator Ann Arbor Spark (https://annarborusa.org/) we identified Pryor Design (https://prydesign.com) to help with web site design and business branding.

We had a great booth next to our friends from Promega. The first booth was a blast, we were overwhelmed by the interest in our services.
We had a booth and a poster presentation. This was a great experience at our first Protein Society meeting.
The addition of a neutral blocker to the first quad did a lot to maintain the instrument performance and reduce house keeping.

Ravi and Richard manned the booth at ASMS 2012. We co-authored five posters.
We were in sunny San Diego for our first EB meeting. We had Booth #841 and luanched our FreeID promotion.

As with our previous experience the meeting was well attended and booth traffic was good
As the company grew so did our charitable donations. We were able to give ten thousand dollars to children's hospital in 2012.

This was an interesting meeting with probably the broadest spectrum of exhibitors we've ever seen.
A great opportunity to see some old friends and making some new ones. The new format was good but afternoon coffee was sorely missed.
With an emphasis on highlighting our chemical proteomic services we attended this molecular targets meeting.

In 2014 we licensed Byonic from Protein Metrics. This purchase and resulting collaboration has resulted in numerous posters and publications.
In two thousand and fourteen we donated twenty thousand dollars to the local children's hospital!
