Lanita Pemberton is born.
Brother spilled the beans about our parents hiding gifts and presents in the closet by showing me the evidence.
I ate too much chocolate/candy and vomited all over the living room floor.
I was told to purchase a clarinet if I wanted to play an instrument because, they had enough drummers already.
Had to transfer to New School because the family moved a mile across town to the south.
I asked my parents about joining a track team. So Dad took me to the track to meet Coach T.
I was selected to play in the high school band one year early. My parents had to give permission for me to travel in to Canada. No passport needed.
Parents were not getting along and Dad moved out.
Mom signed a lease for a two bedroom one bath apt. a few blocks south of further south. It was across the street from my twin girlfriends.
Our high school started in 8th grade because there was not enough space for all of the students at respective elementary schools. The second to last day of school, I was approached by three girls that tried to set-up a fight session with me for another girl in our class.
I requested to move in with Dad because I was tired of being called the teachers pet and taunted for wanting to learn in class. Girls had picked on me several times about this.
I transferred to a suburban school were I was in the minority group. Twin friends also transferred here. I was never approached again about being a teacher's pet or the ingorance of fighting.
Attended my first school dance and got a lot of attention because I danced with one of the boys all night. We were the subject of gossip by the entire school for some time after that.
I got to graduate to high school status again, and actually became a track and field athlete for all seasons. I was also recruited into the high school Marching band again.
I started selling candy to raise funding for the annual band trip. As band members we were given permission by the school to do so during class hours.
I volunteered to learn trumpet, flute and percussion instruments when the band director asked for people to change sections when needed.
I got a job at the candy store in the mall across the street from condo I lived in with Dad. I got sick a few moths later with Mono, which I had contracted from caring for my brother a year prior. I was out of school during my senior year for over 3 months.
My eldest brother's girlfriend gave birth to the first born of the next generation for our family. I suggested that his name should be spelled with two n's, Dashonn.
I became the top 100meter High-hurdler for our track team. Placed sixth in the state finals for our division.
I was accepted to William Paterson College in Wayne, New Jersey.
My classmates and I proudly weathered the rain for our outdoor pomp and circumstance graduation on the football field that we also used for band completion practice.
I was able to spend time with my nephew, by baby-sitting him while my brother and nephew's mother went to work at night.
Attended Willie P 300 Pompton Road, Wayne NJ. I started in communitcations and changed major to music during sophomore year.
Dad gave me a blue 1986 Oldsmobile Cutless Supreme.
After the third attempt to build up enough courage to go in the door. I started working at Slappy's stripper bar in Paterson , NJ.
I took a part-time job at a pet store and purchased a ferret from guilt after I mishandled her and she fell to the floor during my first day of work.
I was not able to physically return to class and had to withdraw from classes and quit both part-time jobs. Dad and brothers came to move me out in white Astrovan.
Dad gave me another car. An aqua 1988 Chrysler Labaron, hardtop.
Kept to my interest, got hired to do animal care at the pet store in the mall near home. Since I was BOH, that gave me more time to fully recover from illness.
I agreed to live with two of my high school classmates at one of the girls' parents house. Was not able to have cat indoors, but the ferrets were allowed.
I was driving to work at the Pet Company MGR. A box truck going 55mph rear-ended me while I was stopped for a school bus in the opposite lane direction, behind two other cars.
Due to the injuries and lack of a car, I had to move in with Mom so she could care for me while doing rehab for my injuries.
I wanted a new car. Found a cute 2-seater stick shift, a red Suzuki X-90 with T-tops.
After the car accident, I worked in the pet shop part-time as the manager on light duty. So, I began to dance again to make up the missing hours. Two different locations within 15mins. of home, with Mom.
I flew into McCarran airport with my friend (NS). I saved money from stripping over the year after the car accident, and purchased our plane tickets.
I attended several strip club auditions Rhino, Paradise, Cheetah's and some other club that I can't recall. It was great, however, I didn't enjoy the topless part. In NJ, I was an exotic dancer/stripper. So, we had to cover our nipples, and not be topless. In Vegas, that was the purpose of their strip clubs. I declined to be a professional stripper and changed my views.
I got the check from pain and injuries sustained by the box truck rear-end accident. The largest amount of current in my possession at one time. +20K
I paid for my boyfriend and I to attend dealer school. We both learned to deal craps and blackjack at an infamous dealer school between the Rio and Gold Coast casinos.
I wanted to go see the black sand beaches on Maui. So, after I got the claim check, I paid for us to travel to Hawaii. Visited the road to Hana, did the bike ride down Mt Haleakala, went on a dinner cruise passing Lanai the pineapple island, and ate authentic Kalua pork roast at a Luau.
We both got hired as Craps Dealers at the El Cortez casino thru the placement agreement with dealer school.
I quit to pursue travel agent business full-time. (Travelwise MLM) As we know, on September eleventh, that venture ended as the travel industry was forever changed.
Found a pet store near by to use mass transit to get to work. Did pet sales and merchandising.
I flew to New Jersey and Dad gave me a gray 1988 Oldsmobile Eighty-eight. Cousin Karlton joined me and we traveled to Las Vegas together after I picked him up in Roanoke, VA.
Since I was trained well, I got a job at Whiskey Pete's Casino in Primm, Nevada. Only female Craps Dealer on my shift.
First 'Bouncer' position. I was hired as security officer. The HOB had a reputation for having rough bouncers and were seeking people that did not fit that build, but were able to handle the tasks and duties of this demanding job.
I got married to my high school dance partner. We opted to have a drive-thru wedding at one of the Vegas chapels near Sahara avenue in the Toyota Matrix his Dad helped him purchase before he passed away.
Our honeymoon trip to Ibiza, Spain. We chose to go at this time instead of after the wedding because, we both wanted to experience the closing parties that the island hosts at the end of the summer season.
I moved out and continued to live life on my own. However, the ex-husband could not let me go and continued to persuade me into giving him rides to work after his car go repossessed.
I was the only female bouncer hired to work at LAX upon opening. I got to do crowd control at the top of the infamous stair case as Britany Spears made her entrance for the opening event. I also worked at Pure nightclub in Ceaser's Palace on Tuesdays. My post was at the restrooms/86 exit door near the VIP DJ area. I used two flash lights to direct guests into the correct bathroom door, as I continued to dance all night.
I left Las Vegas with the car full of stuff and proceeded to travel to New Jersey. I stayed with Mom for about one month.
