The Arts
Hi, I’m Dame Denise L’Estrange Corbet. I’m the Patron for IHC New Zealand and the IHC Art Awards Ambassador. ;xNLx;;xNLx;IHC was founded in 1949 by a small group of parents who wanted equal treatment from the education and health systems for their children with intellectual disabilities. Since then, IHC has been supporting people with intellectual disabilities to express their creativity through art. ;xNLx;;xNLx;This timeline highlights the events, workshops and exhibitions that allows people to have their talent recognised and celebrated. Events like the IHC Art Awards provides opportunities for these artists to communicate in extraordinary ways. We are very excited to share this history with you. ;xNLx;;xNLx;;xNLx;;xNLx;;xNLx;;xNLx;If you see anything in this timeline that needs amending, or you have a story you would like to add, please get in contact, the details are below.;xNLx;;xNLx;Email us at librarian@ihc.org.nz ;xNLx;;xNLx;Please be aware that some of the language in this timeline may be upsetting for some people.;xNLx;;xNLx;
