Asylum - application
Fill in forms with questions about name, citizenship and family, for example. Hand in your passport or other identity documents to show who you are. The Swedish Migration Agency will photograph you and take your fingerprints. The fingerprints are used to see whether you have applied for asylum in any other country in Europe, or if you have permission or prohibition to stay in any other country in Europe. With the help of an interpreter, you must tell more about who you are, why you have left your home country and how you have travelled to Sweden. If you do not have any money, you can apply for financial support. You will receive a bank card and information about daily allowance and special benefits. You will get information about the asylum process, the next steps and what you must do. You will also get information about practical issues, such as your right to housing, medical care and schooling for your children

Swedish tuition for immigrants (SFI)
The municipalities are required to provide Swedish tuition for immigrants. The education is based on courses. Study plans are individual and are to be tailored to the needs of the individual. Adaptation to individual needs presupposes genuine opportunities for students to influence the structure and organisation of the education. The principal organiser should in co-operation with the Swedish Public Employment Service try to ensure that students are given the opportunities to train their Swedish in working life, and that the education in Swedish for immigrants can be combined with other activities such as orientation to working life, validation, work practice or other education. It should be possible to combine the education with employment. The education should be available as soon as possible and begin within three months if there are no special reasons. For persons covered by the introduction program (etableringsprogrammet), the municipality shall actively work to enable them to commence sfi within one month of their application to the education. The tuition should be on average 15 h/week.
