A Bété student, Nragbé Kragbé, starts a revolution in the West which is very severely repressed. He will lose his life in the process. Estimates range between 300 and 2000 deaths.

Ernesto Djédjé - Aguissè
Ernesto Djédjé releases his first album mixing influences from disco, cuba, Makossa and traditional Ivorian music genres. He invents the Ziglibithy dance, inspired by traditional Bété dance styles as well as mask dances such as Ghlé.

Goli - Jimmy Hyacinthe
Jimmy Hyacinthe releases his album "Goli" with the song "Yatchiminou" inspired by the Baoulé Goli mask, with modern influences from afro-beat, soul and disco.

Alpha Blondy's Jah Glory is released
This album has enormous success and would become later a symbol of resistance because of the song "Brigadier Sabari," which documents his experience of being arrested in Abidjan in the 1980s and his subsequent mistreatment by the police.
