A very devastating drought in Tanzania's history. This year-long drought was so severe that Tanzania's hydroelectric power was needed to be rationed.
Tanzania's population is starting to rise rapidly.
Around three million people were affected; The exact date (start to finish) is uncertain. This drought also required food aid to be sent to the people affected.
This rising population isn't helping Tanzania's already existing problems with food security.
It's estimated that 3.7million people were affected, Tanzania needing around 100,000 metric tons of food. They asked the US for 16.6 million dollars. Tanzania's current Drought issue will soon surpass both the amount of aid needed, and amount of people affected.
This drought is estimated to be, by far, Tanzania's worst drought. It began in 2011, and is showing no sign of stopping. Crops are being destroyed and farmers are starving. Millions of people have been affected, and it seems like Tanzania can't solve this issue on their own.
