We have a truly spectacular timeline to share with you: First World War - Kent & Medway. It's strikingly simple in design, but the content is fascinating and painstakingly researched.
The timeline was put together by volunteers at the Kent History and Library Centre from information in the archives. You can find out a bit more about the background of the timeline's development here. It has almost 500 stories, and each story provides a snapshot of something that took place in or was somehow linked to Kent County in the United Kingdom during the First World War.
For example, in November and December 1916 (100 years ago!), there are stories about school children being taken to see the film 'The Battle of the Somme', trees from Platt Wood being harvested for use in the war, and a prisoner of war in Germany who was allowed to visit his dying mother in Gravesend.
It's an amazing, humanising look at life in Kent during the First World War, and is well worth perusing. As ever, if you have any questions or know of a timeline that might be worth featuring, get in touch with us at blog@tiki-toki.com.
