In honour of the start of another academic year, we are pleased to feature a timeline of women mathematicians. The timeline is part of an ongoing project being put together by Larry Riddle of Agnes Scott College.
The timeline starts with Emilie du Châtelet (1706-1749) and currently includes 63 mathematicians. The most recent entry is Maryam Mirzakhani who won the Fields Medal this year. Each entry provides a brief biography and summarises their contribution to mathematics. Because this is an ongoing project, expect to see more entries added!
In order to keep the stories organised and viewable, the timeline uses the spacing option 'top to bottom - 6 rows' and the view type 'coloured stories'. This combination works very well if you have a number of stories that would otherwise be overlapping and difficult to view.
We hope you enjoy exploring the timeline as much as we did, and learning a bit more about all kinds of contributions to mathematics. As ever, if you know of timeline that should be featured in future, get in touch with us at blog@tiki-toki.com.
Thanks for reading!
