The Irving Penn timeline created by the Art Institute of Chicago is everything a timeline should be - interesting, informative and gorgeous! Tiki-Toki is pleased to feature this lovely work.
The timeline is about the life and work of American photographer Irving Penn, and was created for a digital exhibition/archive using content from the Art Institute of Chicago's archives. As the curator stated, "The whole website project was designed as a way to unite this incredible archive that physically lives within two departments.... It is the only way to see paper and photographic materials side by side for most people and makes this resource available to a global audience."
A web page was developed around the embedded timeline, and includes a colourful category legend. The timeline uses a 2d equal-spacing view to control the placement of the stories and keep them from overlapping.
We encourage you to spend some time exploring the lovely timeline and fascinating archive (and if you are ever in Chicago, visit the Art Institute!).
As ever, if you know of a timeline that should be featured in future, please get in touch with us at blog@tiki-toki.com. Thanks for reading!
